Declutter Day: Magazines
How I’m Decluttering My Magazines
Ok so most of you probably have a stack of magazines somewhere in your home, right? When was the last time you actually sat down to read one of those magazines? Are you so far behind that you don’t even know how you’re gonna read through them all when you can barely find time to read through one?
Here’s what I’m doing, and my tips for keeping magazine clutter down. Three simple steps. You ready?
Step No. 1
Get rid of any magazines that you have more than one issue of. Seriously, if you haven’t read last months yet, what makes you think you’ll have time to read last month’s and this month’s?
Step No. 2
Unsubscribe from any magazines you no longer read. I would even go as far as to say, do not subscribe to more than two magazines at a time. Unless you’re an avid reader and you really do read 8 magazines in a month, keep your subscriptions to two.
Of course, if you didn’t have a problem with magazine clutter than you wouldn’t be reading this article now would you? 😉
Step No. 3
What do you do with the two you want to keep? Keep them on your nightstand and read them before bed. When the next issues come in, toss the current ones.
If there’s something you want to keep from the issue, tear out just that page and keep it in a binder to reference back to. I often find recipes I want to try, so I tear them out, put them in my recipe binder, and get ingredients for that dish the next time I’m at the grocery store.
So those are my three simple steps to getting rid of your magazine clutter for good. A little ruthless with only keeping two? Maybe, but how bad do you want to eliminate the clutter in your home?
Sometimes we have to be a little ruthless with the stuff we have been holding on to and learn to let go. My word for 2018 is Simplify, and now I’ve simplified my magazine collection. 🙂
